Industries

Contractor management by industry

A plant shutdown isn’t managed like a port shift, and a construction site with twenty subcontractors isn’t managed like a corporate office. What changes is the documents required, the moment people enter, and the rules that apply.

The workflow is the same across all eight industries: define the requirements, request them, validate them, track their validity periods, and restrict access or operation when they aren’t up to date. What adapts to each operation is the required documents, their validity periods, the people responsible for approval, and the blocking conditions, which define whether a missing or expired document affects the contract or keeps a person from entering.

  1. 01

    The documents required

For work at heights, the work-at-heights certification and the medical exam with the activity’s specific focus areas. In transportation, the SOAT (Colombia’s mandatory vehicle insurance) and the vehicle’s technical and mechanical inspection.

  2. 02

    The critical moment of entry

A plant shutdown concentrates dozens of entries into a few days. A port terminal handles that volume of entries every day, even at peak hours.

  3. 03

    The applicable rule or regime

Decree 1072 of 2015, Colombia’s consolidated labor regulations, applies to everyone, and a free trade zone adds its own entry control regime on top of that.

The eight industries

Find your operation

Each page explains the requirements for that industry, how control works, and which solutions are involved. If you work in several, start with the one that brings in the most third parties.

What doesn’t change

The same system for all eight

  • Document requirements matrix

Which document is required for which type of element, under which activity, with what validity period, and who approves it.

  • Third-party self-service

The contractor creates their people, vehicles, and machinery and uploads the files, including with an Excel template.

  • Restrictive documents

An expiration blocks the person’s entry, the equipment’s use, or the continuity of the contract.

  • Gatehouse check

ID number, license plate, serial number, or QR code. The answer is cleared for entry: yes or no.

All the features are in NAVA 360, and visitors are also managed in NAVA ID. Staff training is in NAVA Skills.

If your operation doesn’t fit any of them

These eight are the industries where NAVA has the most experience, not the only ones it can serve. The document requirements matrix isn’t tied to one industry: if your company requires documents from third parties who enter your facilities, it’s configured with your requirements.
